Course Schedule

 MODULE 1
Module 1 comes in the form of a booklet (pictured above), which accompanies the April issue of Practical Photography (subscriptions and UK newsstand only). It contains 10 top tips to help you get started on the course, and you’ll find all the information you’ll need for the course on page 40. Make sure you also check out page 42, where you’ll find sign-up details. Module 2 is available ONLY as a unique digital feature, so we’ll need your email address to send it to you.

There’s a top tips thread on the Photo answers forum. Click here to check out what’s there and to add your own.

 MODULE 2
This module is available ONLY as a special digital article, so you must sign-up to receive it. It’s packed with the best inspiration and analysis. If you haven’t signed up yet, click here to do so. Module 2 will be emailed to you on 25 March. There’s a homework quiz this month, which which will remain open alongside the DSLR Skills microsite. You'll be able to take the quiz as many times as you like so if you don't get 100% first time round you can have another try.

 MODULE 3
Module 3 is all about how to get the best from a subject and how to approach everyday subjects in a creative way. We’re back in the magazine this month, so make sure you get your copy of the May issue of Practical Photography, on sale 22 April. This month has a homework photo gallery, so it’s time to brush the cobwebs off your kit and get shooting. The gallery opens on 22 April and closes on 18 May.

 MODULE 4
Light is one of the most important tools for photographers, so it’s going to be the subject of this module. Module 4 will be in the June issue of Practical Photography, on sale 20 May. We have another homework photo gallery to make sure your camera is getting plenty of action, and this gallery is open from 20 May until 15 June.

 MODULE 5
Movement is the theme of this month’s module, with a look at all the different techniques for shooting it. This module will be in the July issue of Practical Photography, on sale 17 June.

This is an important month for homework because you’ll need to get your personal project of three images and analysis to us by 13 July. We’ve got some serious incentive lined up though, as everyone who submits this project will automatically be entered into our competition to win one of four photo holidays to Slovakia’s Tatras Mountains, each worth £945! We’ll run all the other info you need about this project in issues of Practical Photography during the course.

Check out more info about the prize at www.mountainparadise.co.uk

 MODULE 6
Module 6 is the final module of the course, so we’ll be pulling apart everything you’ve learned… Well not quite, but we will be looking at ways to break the rules for ultra-creative results. This module will be in the July issue of Practical Photography, on sale 15 July. We’ll also have an end-of-course quiz that opens on 13 July and closes on 12 August. Don’t worry, this isn’t an exam but we will have questions covering the whole course, so no falling asleep at the back…!
