Publish Services are a feature new to Lightroom 3 that allow you automatically update your favourite photo sharing sites quickly and seamlesly within the Lightroom 3 interface.
In this instance we will set up a publish service for Facebook. To get started make sure you are connected to the internet and have your sign in details at hand.
1. Firstly, click on the Library module within the Lightroom interface and on the left hand side, scroll down to Publish services. Double click the "Facebook" bar.

2. You will be presented with the Lightroom Publishing Manager.

3. In this new window, click the "Authorise on Facebook" button. If you are not currently signed into Facebook, a internet browser window will prompt you to do so.

4. After entering your details, the browser window will close and a new dialogue box will open in Lightroom. Simply click "Done". This will link your Facebook account to Lightroom.

5. Now simply add a description for your Publish Service and select one of your existing facebook albums for lightroom to publish the images to, (you may find it easiest to select "Wall Photos"), in the dialogue box. You may also wish to change some of the settings, including file renaming and automatic watermarking, but the default setting will allow you to publish images quickly and easily.

6. Click save to save your publish settings and close the dialogue box.
To publish your images, simply select them from your lightroom collections or catalogues and drag them onto the publish setting. When you have selected the images to upload, ensure you have the publish setting highlighted by left clicking it, and click the "Publish" button at the bottom left.

Lightroom will now process the images and post them to your Facebook profile.
