Had to play around with the gun a bit as I have the sb900 but found that it was a little simpler to do with the sb900, as it has a remote switch in the back. Excellent.

About “pop up flash still fires” I find out that if on my D80 I set up: BUILT-IN FLASH > COMMANDER MODE > BUIT-IN FLASH > MODE value to “ – “ (double minus sign) , then built-in flash even when fires doesn’t effect picture. (must be some delay) to make sure, just switch off your external flash without changing settings and try to take picture. ..ye ye, I was surprised too.. :)

could the same effect work by using an external light i.e studio flood light, by placing the light to one side of the subject,and still using the built in flash on the camera.
