Dave, this video was made to give people who have never mounted an image before a basic idea of the process involved. There are always going to be different methods/techniques for completing the same job and from reading your comments I can't help but feel you've been overly critical towards the content in this video. I've therefore responded to each point that you have made in order.

1. We experienced no such problems of drawing around the glass with a finely sharpened pencil. Provided you make the cut on the inside of the line rather than the outside you'll have no such problems fitting the mount inside your frame.

2. Provided you take care of your cutting and use common sense, there's no problem with using a long rule like the one we have used in this video. ??

3. If you want to cut the mount board to size using a vertical edge cutter we have no problem with that. Again, it’s up to the individual. The Logan 301-S Mat cutter comes with one as part of the kit, however the long edge of the mount board wouldn’t fit in our mount board cutter, thus we used a sharp cutting blade and rule.

4. We were very precise with our cut and scored it a couple of times without creating a multi-scored edge. If you're using thick acid-free mount board like we were, it's very difficult to cut it in one. Scoring is a method that should be considered.

5. You mention we were using flimsy card. We were actually using high quality mountboard, plenty thick enough for the print and the frame. I agree that presentation is everything and if there weren’t a budget, paying out extra for thicker board would be worthwhile. ?

6. We marked our lines from the edge three times to be accurate. You could mark it 6 times if you wanted to be super accurate. What if people don't own a T-square as you mention? It's an extra cost that some people might not be willing to pay. If you take your time and measure up correctly and accurately, there's no reason to say this method is any less accurate than the way you have mentioned. ??

7. A point that I agree with! Acid-Free tape is a good way of preserving the life of the print. ?

8. Everyone has their own ways of doing things Dave and the method used for attaching the print to the mount is completely up to the individual. The method shown here in the video is the one I have tried and tested and its never given me any grief or problems. Mounting from the front actually lets you view the print and how it will look inside the mount. I would much rather this than mount blind from behind the print.
In the video I attached the print to the mount using tape along the four edges. Yes, you can place tape on the top two corners to let the print breathe if you so wish, however I would like to mention that there have been no signs of buckling as you mention since this print was mounted.

Finally, thank you for your recommendation at the bottom of your comment. It's always good to read about products that our readers enjoy using and it is quite obvious that the Longridge mount cutter is the one that works best for you. I hope that we can agree to disagree Dave, on what was a video made to help others rather than cause conflict.

Nice video but i agree with with Kirsti about the buckling problem, I took a print into a framing shop in Ramsgate and had  to take it back a week later because it had rippled around the edges. he refused to refund any money and i had to get the photo reprinted.  i found out afterwards about a method using two small strips of acid free tape on the top edge about 5cm from the corners, it works perfectly every time.
