We are looking for the Holiday Photographer of the year 2008 so your images should be covered by the broad theme of ‘travel’. We will be looking for technical excellence and good interpretation of the theme within the five categories. But above all we will be looking for creativity that results in stunning photographs that engage, surprise, astound, entertain or challenge the viewer. Here is a round-up of the categories and a quick definition. Plus, click on the suitcase (right) for some top tips to successful travel photos...

 wildlife

Wildlife: Amaze us with stunning images of animals taken from the four corners of the world. Anything goes, whether it is furry, scaled, or feathery, and whether it swims, slithers, walks, or flies. Or frankly, just sits there.

 the city

The city: Capturing the urban environment in its many forms is one of the toughest photo assignments you can take on. We want to see images taken in the city that provide an interesting window into the life of the place.

 landscape

Landscape: The world is full of truly incredible environments and this category is your opportunity to amaze us with the diversity of its wild and open spaces.

 people

People: Wherever you travel you meet people from different backgrounds. This category should celebrate the incredible diversity of people from around the world.

 famous places

Famous places: Travel has many iconic places such as the Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Great Pyramids, Ayers Rock, and Sydney Harbour Bridge to name but a few. We’ll be particularly looking for images that provide a fresh angle on such familiar locations.
