In Digital Photo’s April issue two 500mm telephoto zooms were put under the spotlight in a demanding head-to-head test. The two optics under examination were Sigma’s 150-500mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM and Tamron’s 200-500mm f/5-6.3 SP Di LD IF. With both lenses sharing similar specifications and the same variable apertures it was always going to be an interesting battle to find out which came out on top and after thorough testing over a two-week period there was a clear winner.

To read all about the lenses and the criteria in which they performed well make sure you pick up your April issue of Digital Photo – on sale from February 22nd.

For those who’d like to see our test results we’ve added them to this page. The DP lens chart is an excellent way of testing the optical quality of a lens and also reveals any optical flaws. For a detailed description of how the lenses performed optically check out the six-page review in the magazine starting on page 98.
