Sumatran orangutan photography and bushcraft tour
General news
01 April 2011 10:05
The Gunung Leuser National Park is one of the only places in the world where you can still see the critically endangered Sumatran orangutan in the wild, as well as a host of other wildlife. Gibbons, elephants, hornbills, Thomas' leaf monkeys, macaques, and sun bears are just a handful of the thousands of species found in this unique ecosystem.
This trip is in association with the Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS) and a proportion of the cost will be donated to the charity to allow it to continue its vital conservation work with the orangutans and their habitat in Sumatra. Join SOS for this 13 day trip to Sumatra, where you will have the opportunity to see and photograph orangutans in their rainforest home, plant some trees at their forest restoration site, visit the elephants of Tangkahan, and relax at beautiful Lake Toba.
The trip will be led by professional photographer Craig Jones. During the adventure he will offer guidance and support on how to get the best from your camera in this fascinating environment, as well as teaching you essential bushcraft skills to ensure you have the best chance of capturing fantastic photographs of the wildlife and landscapes of northern Sumatra. You can view Craig's portfolio here: www.craigjoneswildlifephotography.co.uk.
Dates: Saturday 3rd to Thursday 15th September 2011
