This August, Bowmore, the first Islay Single Malt whisky, is delighted to partner with National Geographic UK for the second year to launch the 2011 International Photography Contest. Continuing its passion for photography, Bowmore is inviting readers to submit their best photographs of the outdoors for a chance to feature in a future issue of National Geographic magazine and win a truly unforgettable trip for two to the magical island of Islay, the home of Bowmore.
The contest, which runs from 1st August – 31st October 2011, will ask readers to capture what’s great about the great outdoors. Inspired by the key elements that come together to create the warm and smoky character of Bowmore, the categories for entries are fittingly: People, Places and Nature. Readers can enter at www.ipcuk2011.nationalgeographic.com
The competition is easy to enter and is open to everyone, from SLR enthusiasts to those with a camera phone. Readers can submit their favourite shots via the website or upload mobile moments directly from their phones. The judges will be looking for original photos that grab their attention, with interesting light, mood or patterns incorporated into the composition.
For those who want to fine tune their outdoor photography skills, Bowmore is collaborating with renowned landscape photographer Colin Prior to host a series of photography workshops with whisky specialists The Whisky Shop across the UK this autumn.
