The National Railway Museum has announced two special photography events during Railfest 2012 – Britain’s biggest rail celebration.
You can get up close to record breaking locomotives that are coming together from across the UK to be part of the 9 day celebration. The events will be limited to 400 people so you’ll be able to capture the rare locomotive displays on camera without the hustle and bustle of the daytime event – which is expected to draw over 65,000 visitors. You’ll be able to snap-up locomotives being fired up and in light steam with steps and other access equipment being removed to ensure the best shots without obstruction.
Must-see highlights at Railfest will include:
• Mallard – holder of the record for the fastest steam locomotive at 126 mph
• Mardy Monster – the most powerful industrial steam locomotive built for use in the UK
• Flying Scotsman – the first locomotive to reach 100mph
• Tornado – the newest mainline steam locomotive in operation
The events will take place on:
Monday 4 June 18.30-20.30pm
Tuesday 5 June 07.00-09.00am
Tickets cost £50 and will be on sale from January 2012. Refreshments will be available for purchase during the photography events.
Railfest 2012 runs from 2-10 June. Information and news here.
