London based photographer Michael Potter has covered portraiture, travel and interiors, and over the last twenty years has appeared in an international collection of magazines, brochures and has been collected by global corporate clients. He has now created a range of workshops to pass on his expert knowledge of photography and to cater for the rising demand for holidays with a purpose, where travellers contribute locally or learn a new skill, rather than just lie on a beach for a fortnight.
The workshops are proving popular with young affluent professionals from the corporate world looking to explore their creativity and the early retired with disposable income and time on their hands. It is with this client base in mind that Michael has put together a selection of workshops that combine learning and practicing photography with luxury accommodation, fine food and unforgettable locations. All courses can have a maximum of six participants, allowing for plenty of individual attention. Assistants assist the guests when 3 or more are present.
Workshops On Offer Throughout The Year
London - A perfect reason to visit London, or for Londoners looking for a ‘holiday at home’. The workshop is run from a contemporary, spacious studio in West London. Over two days, there is organised creative shoots and tuition, including how to down-load images to the computer and constructive feedback. (This course is non residential)
Wiltshire - Staying at the timelessly charming Hovington House in the heart of rural Wiltshire, this three day workshop combines learning with relaxation. Photography fundamentals are taught and students have the chance to take some shots of the wonderful surrounding countryside and historic towns of Tetbury and Cirencester.
Colorado, USA - The dramatic backdrop of the Rocky Mountains is the setting for this seven day luxury ranch based course, that blends Wild West adventure with photography tuition. White water rafting, shooting photos from horseback, visiting local rodeos and taking part in the big cattle round up on day five, ensures that by the time you’re back at Denver airport for your flight home, you’ll have an unbeatable collection of memories and images.
Kenya - 60,000 acres of African bush, teeming with wildlife, such as Elephant and Lion, is a photographers dream and the Tassia Photography Workshop, staying at a Maasai style lodge eco resort really is a dream come true. After arriving on a private chartered aircraft from Nairobi, days are spent out in the Bush taking photos on game walks and drives, returning to the lodge for rest and relaxation. Each evening, sundowners and meals are enjoyed al fresco.
Mallorca - A six day workshop in a peaceful Mediterranean setting. La Serrania on the island of Mallorca, is only 6km from the sea in a beautiful rural valley, the atmospheric towns of Pollenca and Inca are close by, all providing a diverse range of photographic shoots.
Scottish Highlands - The dramatic scenery of the Scottish Highlands with it’s imposing mountains, vast lochs and big skies is a place that was made for photography. This five day workshop staying in three renovated crofts at the end of a loch at Kyles Morar, far from the madding crowds, refreshes the soul as well as improving photography skills. Think; open log fires, lobster and clams, fresh home made bread, windswept walks, stags and seals and you’ve got the picture.
