The Velbon Ultra Luxi L is an incredibly neat product. It comes with a rather basic carrying case, but don’t let this distract from the quality of the tripod, which is superb. The Ultra Luxi extends to a height of 1.6m and with the splitable centre column will go as low as 19cm. Folded, the tripod is just 39cm long and weighs in at 2kg. The head is a clever design, with a quick-release plate and two spirit levels. Just two handles are required to achieve a full pan-and-tilt coverage. Well worth the £100 investment.
