At the front of Tamrac’s Expedition 4 are four fairly large pockets which, with its quite squat dimensions, give quite a cluttered, busy look to the bag. Though there isn’t a protective all-weather cover, the pockets at the front feature water-resistant zips, and the main compartment uses a LockDown rain flap to keep water out. In use, this can get in the way of the main zip, so unless you fold it back it can hinder access a little.
After adjusting the internal padded dividers, we got our test gear in – though there wasn’t any room to spare and the battery charger had to go in one of the pockets. Like the Vertex 100AW from Lowepro, the Expedition 4 is nice and deep, suiting those with larger D-SLRs. The lumbar support and other mesh pads make the Expedition 4 comfortable to carry, and all the straps are well-padded.

I have used the 4 and it was fine I have a bit more gear now so the 4 had to go. I do like the design of the 4 I just got a rain cover to slip over it from an outdoor shop for bad weather. The design is good I think the only part thats lets it down is the shoulder straps but I am fussy as I walk on average 12 miles on a day out so need nice straps !! They are better on the 6 but but the 6 is deeper so does not sit on your back as well as the 4 so swings and roundabouts I guess.

The flap is ok once you get used to it. Lumber support is great as I carry a load with no problem.
