Placed next to all the other bags in this test, it’s unlikely that anyone would look twice at the Tamrac for its style alone. For many, this is actually a good thing in a camera bag, as it’s less likely to get stolen.
The whole bag seems very deep, which means you think you’d be able to fit a pro-sized camera in easily, but the top of the bag is too narrow and rounded to fit one in with any ease. Its actual dimensions are 34x29x51cm (WxHxD).
The tripod carrier is slightly different from other models but two of the fastening straps aren’t adjustable, so you may find it a little fiddly to get a tripod in. It comes as rather a surprise then that even when loaded up the bag is actually rather comfortable. The big chunky shoulder straps take the load well and spread it nicely across your shoulders and it hardly seems like you have any weight on your back at all.
A slight criticism is that the padded part on the shoulder and waist straps could do with being slightly longer and we’re not at all sure why the shoulder straps attach at the bottom with a clasp – why would you ever want to just take off the bottom?
