The 5612 Pro 12 camera bag from Tamrac has a functional, workman-like design, finished in black. It’s well padded and the materials are of a good standard, with the only weakness in its protective layer appearing at the corners where the foam sections meet.
Compared to the others on test, it’s quite bulky, but this does mean you have plenty of space for your gear. Our standard kit disappeared inside quickly, and left plenty of space for extra lenses and even an extra body. There’s also a good range of dividers, so you can fully customise the space to your liking. You’re not short-changed when it comes to pockets either, with seven external pockets and a couple of card wallets thrown in for good measure.
There are four Fastex buckles and a sturdy zip to secure the bag – though how many of these you use is up to you. The strap isn’t particularly padded, and though satisfactory for short term use, it became a little uncomfortable after longer periods of use.
