Slik’s Sprint Pro II is a 4-section tripod that features a 3-way head and padded leg warmers to make it comfortable to hold onto in cold weather. For a tripod that weighs just 1.1kg, the Slik Sprint Pro II 3Way has an impressive maximum operating height of 164cm – the tallest out of the six. It also excels at low operating heights with its split centre column arrangement. Workable from as low as 18cm, the centre column is also reversible by unscrewing the small stopper at the base.
The legs can be stretched into three different positions by pulling out the spreading releases and all the legs extended smoothly before being secured in place with the flip-locks.
The 3-way head that it comes with is also impressive. The rubberised handles helped lock our camera tightly in position and behind the quick-release plate, there’s a spirit level to ensure your horizons are perfectly level.
Using it outside revealed no problems and we got on well with its large base plate. The maximum load is 1.9kg, but when you consider the weight of a budget D-SLR (550g) and superzoom lens (650g), it’s well within limits. Setting it up at its maximum height took a swift 25secs and it’ll fit in most suitcases with its compact 47cm folded height dimensions.
