Featuring a very old-fashioned, colonial design, the National Geographic Earth Explorer NG 2475 gives a nostalgic nod to the past.

The National Geographic Earth Explorer NG 2475 has a canvas construction and brass buckles. It’s one of those designs that will polarise opinion – it certainly has in the Digital Photo office.
Its a well-made bag, but there’s limited padding at either end, while the front is slightly better protected and there’s a separate, smaller padded compartment for your gear within the main section. Although it’s the tallest bag on test, you have to be very clever in the way you pack it to get the full benefit. We got our D-SLR with standard zoom and prime lens in the padded compartment, but the additional flash and lens had to sit at either end of the bag with limited protection. This also left a lot of wasted space in the top part, but the one upside is there’s space for a 13in laptop in a separate section at the rear. There are a couple of large zipped pockets on the front of the bag for extra accessories, along with two more on the top, while there’s also one at the rear that’s suitable for manuals and paperwork. The main compartment is zipped-up and for back up there are some rather fiddly buckles.
