There’s no questioning the build quality of the Manfrotto 303SPH – it has a solid aluminium construction that’s big and heavy at a whopping 2kg!
The Manfrotto 303SPH attaches as a complete head unit to a tripod’s 3/8in mounting screw, making it incredibly sturdy. There are a few nice little touches, like release buttons so the sliders don’t easily slip out, an adjustment screw to set the rotation interval which is secured to the head so you don’t lose it, and places to store the camera mounting screws so you don’t lose them, either.
The 303SPH offers both horizontal and vertical movement for full virtual reality use, and the central barrel has a click-stop function that can be set between 5 and 90 degrees. This ensures precise rotation between each shot, and gives a reassuring click at each stop. The model also comes supplied with shorter rails for smaller cameras, but there’s no levelling base supplied with the head. Very sturdy and very professional, but you do pay for it.
