The LaCie Rugged XL 1TB drive is a standard disk that comes in a variety of capacities, but the difference lies in the case design. The Rugged XL has an aluminium shell that is also shielded by an external shock-resistant rubber sleeve. The combination of the sleeve and shell makes it reassuringly resistant, and will prevent it getting damaged as easily as other drives might. Connectivity is by USB 2.0 and the Rugged XL is at home with both PC and Mac operating systems.
