As a company, Kata started life in the defence industry, with a range of protection equipment for various armed forces around the world. Since then, it has transferred its knowledge to camera bags. The build-quality on the R-102 is excellent, with durable weather-proof materials employed. There’s also a raincover provided for extra all-round weather protection.
The R-102 easily accommodated our test gear with a bit of space to spare for another lens or two. Padding was very good and access to kit was fast and hassle free. At the front, there’s a quick-access section to the main compartment if you just want to get to your camera in a hurry. When all the gear was loaded up, the R-102 gave a comfortable fit with the padding on the back helping to provide plenty of vital ventilation for the user.
