Kata always seems to produce bags with a slightly different approach and the HB-207 is no exception. The design is modern, which may put some off, but the material used is very hardwearing and will take a serious amount of punishment in tough conditions. It weighs 2.8kg empty, stores a 17 inch laptop, has a rainhood and can carry your tripod too.
Kata always puts a lot of effort into the little extras. There are two pouches on the sides of the bag that are perfect for things like water bottles, while inside are a couple of Velcro-backed stash bags for keeping your smaller items safe – a great idea that other bag manufacturers should adopt.
It comes with a reversible rain/sun cover to protect the bag from the elements and a tripod carrier that you can attach onto the front of the bag. The laptop slot at the back (for a 17 inch laptop) is a little curious as the zip actually goes under two of the straps but other than that, it’s big and spacious.
It also comes with a cute Velcro-attached CD wallet – it’s a great idea that no one else would think of. The only downside of the bag is that the straps are actually quite hard and not padded enough for the size of the bag.
