Kata’s Bumblebee DL-210 is a newly designed backpack costing £140. The main compartment of the Kata Bumblebee DL-210 is split in two, with the bottom section featuring a good space for a D-SLR and lenses. Above this there’s ample room for your sandwiches, spare clothes or accessories, but there’s no internal pocket, so you’ll have to rely on three outside ones. At the back of the pack you’ll find a separate slot for carrying a 15.4in laptop and it was easy to carry a tripod, thanks to the dedicated tripod connecting straps on the side.
The impressive depth of the bag really came into its own when we loaded it. Happily swallowing all our test gear with ease, the bright yellow interior that’s become a feature on all Kata bags, made it easier to find the kit we wanted in darker conditions. Loaded on the shoulders, the DL-210 felt comfortable, with its well-formed and well-padded shoulder straps. There are sternum and waist straps, but we were disappointed to find that the sternum strap wasn’t elasticated, so it doesn’t allow for any chest movement when you’re breathing hard up a hill.
The build quality is impressive and the materials proved to be durable and strong. A weather cover is also included to keep your kit dry if you encounter torrential rain.
