The DC-445 is part of KATA’s Digital Photo series of camera bags and features a very clean, modern design, with a simple black finish. As you’d expect with a company that manufacturers items for the defence industries, the build quality and finish is to a high standard, even though it’s the least expensive bag on test. The level of protection offered by the DC-445 is impressive – there’s a good amount of padding all round, including the top and double base. And while there are no feet on the bottom, it does come with a separate rain cover to wrap round the entire bag if required.
Compared to the black exterior, the inside of the DC-445 is awash with yellow, allowing you to easily locate your gear. Capacity wise, the DC-445 comes up trumps again, easily accommodating all our test gear in the main compartment with space to spare – you could squeeze a large 70-200mm pro zoom in there if you wished. There are a couple of large, deep-zipped pockets on either end of the bag for filters and cards, as well as 3 smaller pockets on the inside of the top.
There’s a great carrying handle and a well-padded, non-slip strap. Also, rather than opening up towards you, the zipped top folds outwards and away from you when it’s on your shoulder for quick, easy access.
