For more advanced printing, there are a number of great paper options in the Ilford range. Photo papers are made up and coated in layers and this Galerie Gold Fibre Silk paper uses what is called a baryta (barium sulphate) layer on the paper that sits below the ink-absorbing layer. This gives it the same qualities as traditional fibre photo paper and is therefore ideal for creating that classic look on a modern inkjet printer. The feel of this paper is really nice, as it has fibre qualities and the weight of 310gsm adds a quality element. This not only gives the print a good finish, it also means that you have better definition, tonal range and archival properties. The papers come with a handy sheet that provides the settings for many popular printers and this silk finish is especially good for monochrome prints.
