Hireacamera lens hire

We assess Hireacamera by renting a pro-spec lens from the company.

Hireacamera offers its hire services online and the website is impressive. The site was easy to navigate, but the range of lenses is slightly more limited compared with other hire companies. High-demand lenses, like the 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM, were stocked and we found a range of Sigma and Nikon lenses available, too. The online ordering process is well-designed and we entered our delivery and collection dates to pull up a quotation. The lens was available when we wanted it and a week’s hire came to £104, including delivery by 12pm, collection by courier and insurance in transit. Hireacamera took a £250 deposit from us while the lens was in our possession and this was paid back into our account when the lens was returned.
    We were sent a text message telling us the lens had been dispatched and it arrived promptly on the delivery date in a rugged, Pelican storm case with all the relevant paperwork and return delivery bag inside. Expecting to find the lens loose inside, it was packaged in a Lowepro lens case inside a soft Canon lens bag. These three layers of protection were by far the best standard of packaging in this test.
    The lens itself looked brand new and a Sigma DG UV filter was screwed on to protect the front element and both surfaces were free of dust. The lens performed faultlessly and an email was received reminding us of the collection date. The case was placed in the delivery bag provided and the courier collected the lens, returning it to Hireacamera with no problems or hassles.
