Hähnel’s Triad 30 Lite is a lightweight tripod weighing in at 1.2kg.

The Hahnel Triad 30 Lite features four leg sections that are secured in place using the flip-lock style of leg lock, appropriately coloured in blue to stand out. At the top of each leg there are leg spread releases to open the legs to three different angles. These were easy to use and we coaxed the legs into their widest setting in around 15secs.
The tripod went up to a maximum height of 143cm. If you prefer to work from lower angles it has a minimum operating height of 23cm. Our favourite feature was its reversible centre column. At one end there’s a fixed quick-release ball head offering excellent manoeuvrability for landscape and portrait shots and at the other end there’s a 3/8in thread ready to take an alternative head if you prefer.
The load capacity stands at 4Kg, so we had no issues securing our D-SLR and 70-200mm lens on top. One of the legs slipped slightly under pressure at first, but tightening a leg lock bolt soon cured the problem. For £40, this tripod represents excellent value for money.
