To spend more on a tripod than you do on most cameras may seem rather extreme, but the Gitzo Ocean Traveler is quite an impressive bit of kit.

The Gitzo Ocean Traveler is the world’s first tripod to have stainless steel casting and is made using state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques. The maximum height is 149cm and the tripod weighs 1.4kg. The centre column can be removed and reversed making this carbon fibre tripod very versatile, albeit still expensive.
