We assess Fixation by renting a pro-spec lens from the company.

Fixation offers a wide selection of the latest Canon and Nikon lenses as well as a few Sigma telephoto zooms and teleconverters. The rental list can be viewed on its website but like Calumet’s rental service you’ll need to phone through to check the availability of the lens on the date you require it. Booking is also made over the phone and for first-time customers, bank details for a deposit for the full value of the lens is taken. Fixation, at its discretion, waive the deposit requirement for account holding customers when subsequent hires
are made.
With the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM in stock, all the details were dealt with efficiently and the price for a weekly hire came to £156.51. This included insurance, one-way delivery, and we paid an extra £10 to have the lens couriered back from Peterborough to London. The lens was sent in a cardboard box, surrounded by foam in a Canon lens pouch. The rental documents lined the bottom and clearly stated the return date and the terms and conditions. Condition wise, the body of the lens did show signs of use but the front element was immaculate and was fitted with a Hoya Skylight (1B) filter. A test on our D-SLR showed it operated smoothly through the zoom range and the AF worked quickly. We packaged the lens in the cardboard box it came in before attaching the  address on the side. We arranged a courier to return the lens and our deposit was repaid.
