Like the other paper in the Epson range, the Epson Velvet Fine Art Paper is made from 100% cotton rag and is acid-free, which prevents the paper structure breaking up over time.

On the box, Epson states that Epson Velvet Fine Art Paper offers a bright white surface and, true to its word, the paper stands out well with a clean white finish.
In the hand it didn’t feel as hefty as more expensive papers and this is down to it being thinner and consequently lighter. Epson’s Velvet Fine Art is a little light, weighing in at just 260gsm.
We found the ICC profile for the Velvet paper was already installed on our machine with the R2880 printer driver. This made the job of selecting it a lot quicker and we were ready to commit to the final prints in a matter of seconds. Studying the prints revealed vibrant colours and neutral mono tones, although the blacks were slightly darker in the shadows compared to Epson’s Cold Press Natural. A box of Velvet Fine Art will set you back just short of £60 and for your money, you’ll get 20 sheets packaged in cellophane inside a sturdy box. This works out at around £2.98 per sheet, so it’s quite pricey.
