It’s certainly weirdly named but does this Crumpler bag draw attention for its functionality too? Capable of housing a 17 inch laptop as well as your camera gear, it has the ingredients to do a capable job.

Crumpler is quickly becoming one of the most popular bag choices for modern photographers. Brian’s Hot Tub (BHT) is the largest of the photo rucksacks at 35x50x25cm (WxHxD) here but manages to hide its size well – it just looks like a standard sized rucksack.

The main compartment is a large wedge shape and opens from the back, which cleverly prevents mud from getting all over your back. The trouble is that the wedge-shape design prevents the top of the bag from storing much gear at all, forcing all the weight to be at the bottom of the bag. It also prevents you from making the most of the space and the biggest lens you can really fit in is around a 70-200mm f/2.8.

There’s a mesh cover to keep everything in place but it simply slows you down from getting your gear out quickly. The easiest thing to get out is the laptop, so it’s not ideal for photographers who change gear often. Access to the front compartments is a little fiddly, as there’s not quite enough space to get much in, while the rigid lip over the zip limits access.
