We found Bob Books’ interface a little fiddly at times and costing £61.99 before post and packing for its photographic large square photobook, it seemed expensive but you certainly get what you pay for in terms of production. The book was neatly presented with flush lines and clean cut pages printed on a thicker feeling photo paper. The binding method also means the pages lay flat and you don’t get the typical bend in paper near the gatefold, which allows for easier viewing of the images.
The printing was also very good, displaying excellent contrast and saturation with clean and sharp edges on both images and text. On the cover, however, the image wasn’t quite flush to the bottom, leaving a small white line. Overall a good quality product from Bob Books, but being at the more expensive end of photobooks, it offers only average value for money.
Interface
Download the Bob Designer software, import your images and the interface will auto-design a book for you to edit using the layout options provided. There’s no tip system, but there is a help guide if you get stuck. The interface proved a little tricky when positioning manually rather than through a layout option and we had difficulty making sure all the images lined up perfectly.
