There’s plenty to like about the neatly designed Tamron SP AF 90mm f/2.8 Macro DI. The price tag is certainly competitive and the design is excellent – we particularly like the push/pull AF/MF selector that enables you to quickly change between the two.

There’s a focus limiter that’s much the same as that on the Nikon macro – you choose which side of 0.42m you want to use – plus the minimum aperture setting of f/32 gives plenty of depth-of-field.

Optically, it’s a sound performer with impressive definition throughout the aperture range, with the only downside being the rather noisy autofocus mechanism. This lens is available in Canon, Nikon, Minolta and Pentax fittings.

Mine just arrived at the weekend and I'm very impressed with it. I've hardly had chance to use it but so far the images are sharp and the lens is great to use. I got a superb deal on mine by ordering it on ebay from a seller in Hong Kong and I'm so glad I did. Great Lens!

i got this lens a few months ago and although i haven't had anywhere near enough opportunity to play with it i am already extremely happy with it! As the review mentions the push pull af/mf is very useful, as it the limiter switch. i have found the manual focus to be nice and sharp and even got a good shot (macro flwr in my gallery) on my first day with the lens, having never tried macro before. Also a great focal length for portraiture, which i have only used a little. I would be interested to know if anyone else has ever used the lens hood supplied with the lens, i find it a wee bit long and have trouble seeing when it might be usefull. However the fact that it is included along with the pouch is a very good thing and i think very professional and thoughtful of Tamron when they are giving such a great lens at such a small price :-) chuffed to bits, Love it!

I'm very happy with mine as well but why do they call it a f/2.8 lens when it isn't at the smallest distances???
