TAMRON 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 DI-II LD (IF)

The Tamron 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 DI-II LD (IF) has a built-in autofocus motor, making it a viable option for all Nikon D40/40x/60 owners.


The 10-24mm is a new addition to the Tamron wide-angle line-up and although it sports a similar finish to its older sibling, it has a heavier build that incorporates larger zoom and focus rings. It features a variable f/3.5-4.5 maximum aperture that is faster than the 11-18mm, and the improved 10-24mm focal range (35mm equivalent of 16-38mm on Canon or 15-36mm on both Nikon and Pentax) offers both greater range and wider coverage. Thankfully Tamron has included a built-in autofocus motor, making it a viable option for all Nikon D40/40x/60 owners and AF performance on the new model is marginally improved, thanks to quicker and quieter operation. The internal focus system (IF) ensures no problems using graduated screw filters, and with a minimum focusing distance of 24cm the new model is just a nudge better than its predecessor.
