If you’re a full-frame shooter, your ultra wide-angle options are reasonably restricted and pretty expensive but if you still want the flexibility of a fast maximum aperture on an ultra wide-angle lens, then a prime lens like the Canon 20mm f/2.8 is the way to go. The Canon EF 20mm f/2.8 USM offers a very wide-angle coverage on a full-frame D-SLR, allowing you to cram lots of the scene into the frame. While it is naturally suited to landscapes, it’s also great for other applications too, such as documentary and architectural photography.
The Canon 20mm f/2.8 weighs in at 405g. There’s a large 72mm filter thread at the front and there’s also Canon’s Ultrasonic motor built-in to reduce AF noise. At the side of the lens is a handy AF/MF switch, making it dead-simple to switch from one to the other. Build is very solid, while the performance with the USM motor in action means that AF is fast and quiet. Image quality is good, delivering bags of detail with only minimal vignetting wide open.
