The Toshiba HDDR500E03E is a light, stylish portable hard drive.

The design of the Toshiba HDDR500E03E is stylish, incorporating a high-gloss black finish with eye-catching white and grey flashes. If you plan to cart the drive around, Toshiba’s shock protection and ramp load technology protects the internals against the rigours of rough handling, but there’s no body armour. It comes in 160, 250, 320 and 500GB capacities with different coloured flashes so you can tell them apart. Available in either PC or Mac formatted version, the Toshiba HDDR500E03E connects via USB 2.0 but there are no Firewire ports and it’s only supplied with a single USB cable, so another cable is required if you’re connecting to a low power interface. There’s no back-up software either, but as long as you’re going to use the drive to store images this isn’t a problem.
