The E2441V from LG is a 24in monitor featuring a TN illuminating panel with an LED backlight design. Claimed to save up to 25% more energy compared to other screens, it’s smartly finished with an ultra thin bezel at the top and sides, has a good choice of connectivity options that include D-Sub, DVI-D, HDMI, and there’s also a headphone -out socket, though we found this tricky to access at the back. The monitor can be tilted up and down but there’s no option to raise the height or swivel the screen. Setting it up was easy, thanks to the stand slotting neatly into the foot of the monitor, but we would have preferred a more robust base to prevent wobbling when being tilted, or using the menu buttons. The 1920x1080 resolution is full HD and though there aren’t any extra USB or memory card sockets, manual adjustment of brightness, colour temperature and contrast can be made from the front. Display quality is similar to other monitors with a TN LED panel. As well as some banding in our gradient test files we noted a White point that lost some detail in the brightest highlights. The Black point was more satisfying and we easily picked out the steps in brightness over a full range of colour tones including red, green and blue.
