The Kodak ESP7 lines up second in the Kodak multi-functional range boasting a similar spec to the top-of-the-range ESP9.With the only absent feature being the fax, the Kodak ESP7 is very similar in spec to its sibling, the ESP9. The Kodak ESP7 is a big machine with a large footprint and has a classy black finish. The control panel can be tilted for ease of use and houses a large 3.0in LCD. The printer features print, copy and scan functions, has a dedicated photo paper tray, built-in duplexer and wireless connectivity. Kodak’s multi-function marketing strategy is to provide low-cost ink with the 5-in-1 colour cartridge priced at just £10. Kodak claims this will save you 50% on ink costs compared to other inkjet printers. This may be true, but isn’t quite the full picture as its top quality Ultra Premium paper is expensive, costing £25 for a 10x15cm 100 pack, and this bumps up the cost. Set up was easy and intuitive; the Kodak ESP7 churns out a 10x15cm photo in 45secs and printing direct from a memory card or camera is straightforward with options to zoom, rotate, choose quality and size or add a date. Creative editing is limited to mono conversion, however, so if you want to be more adventurous you’ll need to hook up the Kodak ESP7 to a computer.
