FDRTOOLS ADVANCED V2.1 produced some good results in the Digital Photo tests.Together with HDR creation from a series of exposures, FDRtools Advanced v2.1 can also enhance a single image for a pseudo HDR finish. The interface uses 5 modules Open, Alignment, HDRI Creation, Tone Mapping and Save. With images opened, and automatically aligned, the HDRI Creation module provides 3 solutions; Average (for limited Noise reduction), Separation (for improved Noise reduction and de-ghosting), and Creative (for advanced blending of images with different content).
During Tone Mapping the Simplex and Receptor functions create natural finishes, leaving the Compressor for contrast enhancement. Here, the number of adjustment sliders is limited, making the program easy to use, although there is less control compared to some other packages. Previews refresh quickly and saving an HDR file takes a respectable 2 minutes. Results are also good, with little or no evidence of artefacting or haloing in heavily enhanced images.
