The Samsung EX1 has a 10Mp chip and a CCD sensor measuring 7.6x5.7mm.

Featuring a 3x zoom lens, with a focal range of 24-72mm, the Samsung EX1 has a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture. The lens-based image stabilisation helps combat camera shake and as well as the 4:3 ratio, there’s 16:9, 3:2 and 1:1 aspects. Along with Centre, Multi and Selection AF modes, AF tracking is present and although it doesn’t track to the corners of the frame, it locked onto our subjects no trouble. Metering modes are Spot, Multi and Centre-weighted – easily accessed via a dedicated button beneath the movie-rec button – and the ISO range runs from 80-3200. The 3in, 614k-dot screen can uniquely be pulled out and rotated by 270 degrees for easy viewing when shooting from low or high angles. The On/Off button is located within a dial used to control continuous shooting, Self-timer or bracketing, and built into the rubberized grip is an extra control wheel for cycling through the menu and taking control of shutter speed in Manual mode. The menu system is bright and clearly laid out and the bulky size and weight of the EX1 gives it a reassuring, robust feel. Video quality is 640x480@30fps.
