The Pentax Optio W60 first broke cover back in May 2008, and its age is beginning to show, especially with the design. The Pentax Optio W60 looks dated and underwhelming and has a rather unimaginative design. One thing it does have on its side is its size as its nice and compact. The W60 can be used under water to a depth as low as 4m, but it isn’t designed to be shockproof. It sports a large zoom range, running from a nice, wide 28mm to a more than adequate telephoto reach of 140mm, though there’s only an ISO boost to combat the risks of camera shake. There’s a 10Mp sensor nestling inside the Pentax Optio W60, with a standard ISO range of 50-1600, but can be expanded up to 6400, though the resolution will dip to 5Mp – still better than other compacts that can be pushed to this ISO however.
At the back, things look pretty uncluttered – you’ll find a 2.5in screen, with a small selection of buttons spread out to one side. In use, the W60 feels a little unrefined – the menu feels like it’s behind the times, with clunky graphics that can’t compete with the competition.
