Pentax K200D+ 18-55mm kit lens

Pentax K200D

The Pentax K200D sports a well-constructed, heavy body and incorporates a comfortable handgrip and a top-plate LCD for reviewing settings.

The K200D has a 2.7in screen for image playback and access to a clear menu, which is easy to navigate.
The CCD-shift Shake Reduction system is body-mounted, so works with all lenses, and a Dust Removal system gets rid of unwanted grime on the sensor.
The K200D is powered by 4xAA batteries and though this is convenient for spares, it’s not as long-lasting as a lith-ion pack. The 11-point AF is usually quick, but can be prone to hunting and is a little noisy, too.
There are no real complaints regarding the handling, though; the Fn button and D-Pad give quick access to the Drive, ISO, WB and flash functions, and there’s a separate button for switching quickly to RAW mode if you normally like to shoot JPEGs.
The green button on the top-plate is a one-touch route to Auto from any mode, so if you’re setting up a manual exposure and something suddenly happens, you can instantly ditch the settings and shoot with a press of the button. Overall, the rugged build and feature set add up to a solid camera, but this is reflected in the price.
If you like a large camera, the GX-10 and K200D give you plenty of body to hold, and their build quality scores top marks due to plentiful weather seals.
The K200D produces some cracking images, but performance is an issue with noisy AF and a slow frame rate, and it is a bit expensive for an entry-level model.

What has the GX-10 got to do with the K200D? Different cameras, different sizes!

RE: Pentax K200D

Hi screechpad, to blur water you need to use shutter priority (Tv) on the mode dial.(page 18 number 8 in the K200D manual) then adjust the e-dial for the number of seconds required.(page 18 number 13) use a tripod and turn off shake control. Try 2 seconds first but if thats not giving you enough blur try a longer time. If it is too bright try using a ND grad to allow the longer exposures. Page 90 - 91 in the manual Hope that helps, Im no expert but I did the DSLR course and found that helped me to get my head around the basic controls, just keep trying and you will get there in no time.
