The Olympus FE-5040 sports an understated design.Depth-wise, at 20mm the Olympus FE-5040 is nice and compact and is available in four colours – Silver, Black, Bronze and Red.
With a 5x optical zoom ranging from 26-130mm, the Olympus FE-5040 features a versatile zoom lens – the 26mm short end will be particularly useful for wide-angle coverage. There’s a Digital anti-shake system, though it’s a specific mode and automatically sets the ISO to ensure a high enough shutter speed.
Controls are kept to a minimum on the rear of the FE-5040 – all settings are controlled via the on-screen menu. Simply hit the OK button to bring up a range of settings (dependent on your desired mode), and then use the 4-way control pad to navigate to the setting you want to change.
Autofocus won’t win any awards for zippiness, but it locks on smoothly, rarely hunting to acquire focus.
