Casio has made an impression in the superzoom market with the Casio EX-FH20... The Casio EX-FH20 is fitted with a 9.1Mp CMOS sensor and 20X optical zoom it carries a short focal length range (26-520mm) but at full telephoto, it gives a fast maximum aperture of f/4.5. The Casio EX-FH20 is also unique in that it records RAW files alongside the more familiar JPEGs. The RAW format used is Adobe’s universal DNG, so it’s easy to find conversion software compatible with the camera. The Casio EX-FH20 performs well in the shutter range stakes with speeds ranging between 15secs – 1/3000sec, but exposure modes are controlled from the shooting menu, rather than the mode dial. This instead controls the HD video mode (1280x720 @ 30fps) and high speed CS mode that can record a burst of 40 still images in a single second. This occurs at a reduced resolution of 7Mp, and is JPEG only, but is still fun for action sequences.
There’s a 3in screen, with a simple arrangement of buttons, including Best Shot, which gives access to 18 Scene modes. There are three anti-shake modes to choose from which work really well, and the four AA batteries which power the camera are located beneath the comfortable handgrip. A solid performer with a fine array of features.
