Criccieth Castle
| Directions: |
The small town of Criccieth sits on the coast around 4 miles west of Porthmadog in North Wales. From the A497 you can see the castle as you approach the town, and there are car parks close to the beaches both east and west of the castle itself. You simply follow the signs to the first car park from the main road, or the last one just before you leave the town. Grid ref SH167299 |

There is car parking very close to the beaches, and you can get great views of the castle without walking very far. |

Venue information
Sitting on top of a rocky headland the castle dominates the small town of Criccieth. Even as you approach the town it’s impossible to miss this landmark so you should have any trouble finding it! If you want to shoot the castle with the sun setting behind it you want to park up in the first car park you reach when travelling from Porthmadog along the A497. The main beach here is sandy and flat, but if you walk a little distance away from the castle and you’ll find a more interesting rocky shore, with more rocks exposed at low tide. The opposite side of the castle is perfect for sunset, and there is a car park above the beach on this side too. The beaches this side are dotted with small rocks, again with a more rocky shore the further you go away from the castle.
Venue Verdict: A spectacular location, but the houses and buildings along the sea front can spoil the view of the castle itself.

It's art that shows in someone's work like that.
What else can I say? I simply love to see how well a photographer uses wide angle.
