Mwnt

Directions: Mwnt is located around three miles north of Cardigan, down meandering minor roads off the A487. The easiest route is to take the B4333 at Blaenannerch and then follow the minor roads towards the Butterfly Centre. Mwnt is then signposted to the right just after the Butterfly Centre. This single-track road leads to a large car park.
Accessibility: The roads can be narrow, but it’s easily accessible. Mwnt itself is a rocky outcrop rising above the area, with the summit being a short, if strenuous walk.
Costs: Pay and display car park at busy times.
Best time to visit: Stunning views to the west make sunset the perfect time to visit Mwnt.

Venue information

Mwnt is a spectacular rocky outcrop that looks almost manmade, as the rock looks completely different to the surrounding area. As well as this spectacular rock structure there’s also a small isolated church at the foot of the hill and a beautiful sandy cove. From the car park you have the choice of going down a footpath to the beach or up to the top of the hill. We’d recommend the latter as the views from the top are spectacular. The walk to the top is short, but it can be steep in places, and it’s not for those who suffer from vertigo. It’s worth the effort, though, as the views across to Cardigan Island are amazing, especially if you stay until sunset. This exposed spot can get a little chilly even in summer, so it’s worth taking some warm clothes, just in case. Getting down again after sunset can also be a little tricky, so take a torch to light the way.

Venue verdict: The views from the top of Mwnt are spectacular, and the surroundings are beautiful. Even the sight of the hill itself rising almost magically out of the land is amazing, making this a very special coastal location.

An excellent description of the area, I have been holidaying here for many years and I couldn't have described it better myself. There is a footpath below the Mwnt, which takes you onto the cliffs. there are some excellent photo oppurtunities there asell especially at sunset.
