Venue information
There are many wonderful waterfall locations to be found in and around the Goathland area including the well known Mallyan sprout waterfall with it’s impressive drop.
Water Arc bridge is a fascinating location to visit and although it takes some finding, it’s well worth it. Water Arc is made up of two bridges, one of which spans beneath the other. The higher of the two bridges carries a railway line, part of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and the bridge beneath enables people to cross the fast flowing river. There are fantastic photographic opportunities to be had from the top of the path of local trains pulling up the hill towards Darnholme and Goathland. Walk down the stepped path and then across Water Arc footbridge and you can work your way down to the rivers edge for some fast flowing, long exposure river shots.
It’s possible to work your way up the edge of the river in either direction, but waterproof footwear and a tripod are essential.
There are many interesting species of trees around Water Arc area too, including some stunning conifers.
