Venue information

Historic buildings from all around the Black Country have been moved and authentically rebuilt at the Museum, to create a tribute to the traditional skills and enterprise of the people that once lived in the heart of industrial Britain.

Electric tramcars and trolleybuses transport visitors back in time from the modern exhibition halls to the canal-side village, where costumed demonstrators and working craftsmen bring the buildings to life with their local knowledge, practical skills and unique Black Country humour.

Venue Verdict: Unlike a conventional museum full of stuffy displays and dusty labels, The Black Country Living Museum recreates history in a far more three-dimensional way.

Well worth a trip - but don't go at weekends as it's really busy. There are plenty of opportunities for taking pics - but be prepared to wait for tourists to get out the way. All, and any, of the staff will willingly pose for pics and are friendly and helpful. Well worth a day out.

Brilliant. I have visited the museum on several occasions and it is a treasure trove of photo opportunities. Everything on the site is a genuine original, having been taken down, brick by brick, from sites across the Black Country and rebuilt at the museum. There are all kinds of shops, forges and even a pub, just as it was early in the last century and selling real local ales. Well worth a look if you're in that part of the word.
