Wolves Wood
| Directions: |
From Hadleigh town centre, head north up Angel Street. At the junction of the A1071, turn right towards Ipswich. The reserve is signposted after a mile on the left-hand side. The nearest rail station is at Ipswich, 8 miles away. From there, a bus service runs from the Old Cattle Market bus station. Take the no. 90, 91 or 94 bus and ask the driver to stop at Wolves Wood. Ask nicely, as the driver is not obliged to do so. Grid reference: TM054437. |

Venue information
There is only a small window of photographic opportunity at Wolves wood (and, no, there are no wolves – unfortunately). The Wood is ancient woodland, with a network of rides and 46 ponds. The reserve is best visited early on a spring morning. There is a visitor trail that extends for a mile or so, and which can be wet and muddy throughout the year.
Venue verdict: Lack of any real facilities makes this a less than ideal location for bird (or other wildlife) photography.
