Venue information
Burghley House, renowned for hosting the yearly famous Burghley Horse Trials was designed by William Cecil and built between 1555 and 1587. The house is an excellent example of 16th Century Elizabethan architecture and in the main part of the house owns 35 rooms, split between the ground floor and first floor.
With its huge grounds, picturesque setting and excellent facilities, Burghley makes a first-class location in the East Midlands for large events. The biggest event of the year usually takes place over the first weekend in September, when the premier equestrian social event decends on Burghley. The horse trials have hosted up to 600 trade stands before now, making it as popular for shopping over the weekend as it is for its horses. International riders see Burghley Horse trials as one of the biggest events in the yearly calendar, so is well worth a visit if you fancy testing your sports and action photography to the full. The action can often be quite a distance away so make sure you pack your telephoto lens as part of your kit before you travel. If you happen to be passing Burghley House make sure you stop in for a visit. It’s a highly recommended location. One of our recent visit to the grounds saw in excess of 200 Ferrari’s take part in a Ferrari owner’s club day. It’s well worth checking out the spectacular events held at Burghley House on their website so you can mark up any that take your fancy on your calendar.
