i would personaly rate this venue 5* photo oppertunities abound even for non landscape photographers a must is the pub next to ribbleshead viaduct sometimes especialy on saturday/sunday you get folkbands come in to play live mike harding has been known to join them good for relaxed candids and for blokes the loo with a view is a must see but if you are a landscaper you will be in seventh heaven photo oppertunities arise in landscape obviously, people, sheep auctions, architecture ( lots of wonderful stone buildings villages } cameo scenes like old blacksmiths ,animals, just everywhere you turn theres usualy an oppertunity of getting something good. no particular time of year reccomended but i went in autumn and the light and colours were gorgeous i would personaly reccomend dent to stay at .i stayed at the sun inn at dent and i got a warm welcome lovely room which althogh basic was cheap and clean and a gorgeous breakfast reccomended although there isn't a shortage of good b+bs you have to book in advance as it is very popular cannot state that point enough if you like life with the camera on your eye most of the time don't miss going here the only downside is transport you must go by car to get the most out of it it is doable by train but expect long walks to accomodation as if you go you will dicover mostly it,s pretty remote

ribble valley

stopped there one weekend in Dent whilst not going specificaly for photography i took a compact there are some of the most gorgeous photo opertunities in the uk and everywhere there is something to photograph so much so there is even loads to photograph for non landscape fans from sheep auctions at sedbrough to folk groups that just go in to the pub next to ribbleshead viaduct a nice village to stop in is dent i stopped at the sun inn and can thouroughly reccomend them very basic rustic accomodation but cheap clean and a gorgeous breakfast if you go at right time of year you could even plonk yourself at the side of one of the many small waterfalls and try to photograph the leaping trout heading upstream i would rate this venue 5* all round with no hesitation
