Brands Hatch

Directions: Brands Hatch can be seen from the M20 and it’s very close to Junction 3 of the M25. From Junction 1 of the M20, look for the A20 London Road which soon leads into Gorse Hill main road. Follow the A20 for roughly 5 miles and the main Brands Hatch entrance can be seen off to your left-hand side. If you’re approaching the track from the South come off the M26 onto the A20 and follow the signs for Brands Hatch through West Kingsdown.
Accessibility: Good for cars and lorries, but the entrance is guarded by security.
Costs: See the Motor Sport Vision Website for more information
Best time to visit: All Year

Venue information

Brands Hatch is a motor racing circuit that’s located in the heart of Kent. It’s easily accessible – located just off the M25 at Junction 3 – and is claimed to be one of the busiest race circuits in Europe. Improvements over numerous years have turned it into a popular venue for some of the largest events on the motorsports calendar.

Brands Hatch hosted the British Grand Prix between 1964 and 1986 and is now home to the well-known World Superbikes, the world Touring Car Championships, as well as many other truck, bike and car events. Over the years motorsports history has been made at Brands Hatch; it was the first circuit to hold the British Touring Car race and was where Nigel Mansell made his debut F1 victory and James Toseland made a double win in the World Superbikes.

The circuit is made up of many dips, tight corners and steep hills, meaning it’s very popular with racing drivers across the globe who visit and challenge their own racing ability. The Indy circuit is always raced in the clockwise direction, as is the GP circuit, the full length of which stands at 2.3 miles.

Brands Hatch circuit is one of the most photogenic tracks in the country and the large grandstands offer extensive views out over the pits and the first few corners of the course. Brands Hatch is now maintained and looked after by the Motor Sport Vision group and during the week the track can be hired out for private testing and track days. Driving experience courses are also available – visit the Motor Sport Vision website for more information on prices and availability.

The toughest thing to do is to get some good clicks of rally cars which are running at a some good pace and with all those turns or rather say curves it becomes too difficult to get some good pics and you have done a great work to capture this amazing pics .used rvs

I have been attending Brands for many years, there are many points around the track to get some great shots. Promo pit girls will pose for photos and there is always action on the track, take plenty of CF cards.

Inside Druids Bend you can get to within six feet of the action without any fences to ruin your shot. See my Flickr shots at http://www.flickr.com/photos/robinhj/sets/72157603765171080/ which were all taken from there. You can also avoid fences at a few other spots (ie Sheen) but you won't get that close.

When it's not been snowed off (Spring 2008, BSB), there is, in my opinion, no better place (in England) to shoot bike racing than here. If you can get into the infield area at Druids then great, wheelie opportunities (full curcuit) exiting Surtees and again at Pilgrims Drop, but really anywhere especially out in the woods (full curcuit, Dingle Dell and Sheene Curve) gives spectacular views of fast cornering action! Top notch grid girls here also for those interested, as well as large crowds stretchiing from Clearways, all the way round to Surtees for excellent "big-event" back-drops, at the bikes anyway. All-in-all can't go far wrong here. I give it 5* in all rating cats.

I've been to Brands Hatch on numerous occasions to see the BTCC (British Touring Car Championships) and this track for its accessibility is one of the best. Nearly all of the lawn areas around the track are accessible and on a Touring car day there is always plenty to see. There are at least 6 races throughout the day as well as various stalls where the car enthusiast can pick up some great shots of the competitors and their cars as well as a few freebies if you're lucky! The days entry will costs you around £15 - £20 and if you wish to enter the spectator stands the price goes up by £10. The grass areas are great although take a chair for between races and make sure you are well provisioned. Food in this place costs a fortune as does water or hot beverages so please take a flask and enough food to see you through to the late hours of the afternoon. There is always plenty of viewpoints for the races, I suggest arriving as early as possible (due to traffic) and find a good spot on a corner (druids corner or as near as dammit) and settle down for a great day of hard racing and plenty of spills and thrills.
